Basic Rules & Sweepstakes Ethics            After the Win/Handling Disputes

    Keeping Sweeping Fun For Everyone

Entering sweepstakes if a fun hobby, especially when your efforts are rewarded with a prize, but it's not (or shouldn't be) an open invitation for cheats & the greedy. You can help keep sweeping fun for everyone by following these basic sweepstakes ethics.

Most sponsors hold sweepstakes to get visitors interested in their products and/or website. When time allows look a little farther than the entry page.
When you come across a great product/website email the sponsor & let them know that you enjoyed your visit and that you found them through their sweepstake- they'll be more apt to hold sweepstakes in the future.
Don't use unethical practices. Entering with multiple email addresses, name variations, etc. in order to trick the site into allowing you to enter more times than the rules allow is not only cheating, it may get you blacklisted by the sponsor.
Don't try to bribe a sponsor. Writing "I'll buy from you if I win" in the comments section won't gain you any points.
Be kind. If a sponsor ask for your opinion of their site in the entry try to find something positive to say, "I hate your site, but love the prize" is not OK. Follow the old adage - If you can't find something nice to say, say nothing at all.
Say thank you! When you do win a prize make sure to tell the sponsor how much you appreciate there holding the contest and awarding you the prize. A quick thank you by email when you're notified and another by email or snail-mail when you receive the prize  REALLY IS appreciated by the sweepstakes sponsor.
