Basic Rules & Sweepstakes Ethics            After the Win/Handling Disputes

Rule #1 - You MUST Enter To Win!

I'm sure you've heard it before - if you don't enter you won't win, but it's worth repeating. There is no magic formula for winning sweepstakes, no secret method for becoming a guaranteed winner, no sure-fire way to get your entry picked. Sticking to rule #1 is the ONLY way to win sweeps. If, on the other hand, you'd like some tips on making your hobby more enjoyable (translation: you'd like to win more often) put some of these tips into action today.

                                     Time Savers

None of Us has unlimited time for sweeping, here's some idea's for making the most of the time you have.

Don't waist time hunting all over the web for sweeps, find a couple of sites that specialize is sweepstakes (we hope you like this one) and spend your time entering contest instead.

Try using a typing aid to help you fill out the forms faster. (This is NOT the same as an automated entry, which many sweepstakes forbid.) Microsoft's internet explorer 5 has this feature build in, or download one of the free software programs like gator to help you. You might also try out the free shareware program described at the bottom of this page.

Become familiar with basic sweepstakes rules, as well as the rules for your state/providence/country,  so you can skim, rather than read, all the rules of every sweep.

Keep a separate email account just for entering sweeps. This will make it faster to check your sweep-related mail, and will keep the junk mail out of your regular in-box. If you need an email account for sweeps you can get one here

                   Boost Your Wins

Love your hobby, but wish you had more rewards to show for it? Try some of these suggestions.

Look for sweepstakes offering lot's of prizes, the more prizes being offered, the better your chances of winning.
Enter as often as a sweepstakes allows, but not more or you may get disqualified.
Don't over-look the smaller sweeps, big prizes are great, but many smaller sweepstakes have fewer entrants competing for the prize. Any win can really brighten up the day :)
Be patient - Don't expect instant gratification.  Too many people give up after only a few weeks. Most contest run for a few months and many wait a few weeks after the contest closes before choosing and contacting the winners.
If you can't enter sweepstakes every day concentrate on weekly, monthly and one-time-only sweeps to keep your chances of winning even with everyone else.
Double-check your information! This may sound simple, but we, like other sweepstakes sponsors, receive returned mail because the entrant entered the wrong email address. If a sponsor can't reach you - you aren't going to win.
Don't overlook local, in-store giveaways, there's much less competition than with national contest - take a few seconds to fill out the entry.
Set a schedule and stick to it - remember rule #1.
NOTE: A lack of rules for a contest may be a signal that the contest is not on the up-and-up. Be wary of sites that have NO rules or instructions for entrants as well as those that charge a fee to enter!

Have I ever won? Sure! You can see a partial list here.
